     Rolf Oppliger, describes firewall as a "blockade" between an internal privately owned network (such as an intarnet) that is believed to be secure and an external network, such as Internet, which is not assumemed to be secure. The metaphor of a blockade is perhaps useful, but others have suggested that a firewall can be compared more accurately to a "moat around a castle."
    Firewall technology consist of a set of mechanism that are embedded in hardware, software or both. This technology includes filters and gateways that are designed to secure communication traffic entering or leaving a specific network domain.
